about
Time, as Tennessee Williams wisely told us, is the longest distance between two places—a perspective that singer-songwriter Monique Barry is more than prepared to support—and sing about. Always a musical innovator and a tuneful risk taker, Monique has often been ahead of her time, and shows no sign of falling behind. Ever since starting her musical career, she hasn’t just spent time—she’s also invested it in the evolution of her creative vision, as well as the exploration of her musical scope and diversity.
Monique’s newest single, Time, is the eighth and latest in a series of singles that’s slated to culminate in a completed album entitled HAAK.
Also going the musical distance on Time are some of Monique’s most trusted and vibrant collaborators: Kevin Lacroix on guitar, Alisdair Jones on bass, Emma Campbell on vocals and Michael Philip Wojewoda on drums, vocals, mix and co-production. Photos and video by Dan Bowman.
lyrics
I look in your eyes to try to connect with you.
Hope to see past your distance, it's dark and it's blue.
Hungry for a moment authentic and true.
I round up the troop and throw a life line to you.
The troops turn away, neglect's made them not follow through.
You're left alone with bullies and pushers who claim to love you.
Time heals all things, time heals all things, time heals, know that it's true.
Time heals all things time heals all things, time heals, know that it's true
I'll take a cold plunge and strengthen my core for you.
Banish the fear, feel everything all the way through.
You live in me I'll be your bolt from the blue.
Je t'aime mon chou.
Time heals all things, time heals all things, time heals know that it's true.
Time heals all thing, time heals all things, time heals know that it's true.
Time heals all things.

Monique writes and performs without imitation, striking musical and emotional notes from the past, present, and future while
staying defiantly in the now. She has forged a style that marries the everyday to the otherworldly, resulting in musical dreamscapes teeming with innovations, oddities, emotional echoes, and the many stops and starts along the human journey....more
This is the first in a series of weekly album reviews published by Andrew Dubber. If you haven’t already caught it, please check out his introductory post. There’s been talk of an 80s revival of one sort or another since long before the 80s even came to an end. Some long for the angular rhythms … Continue reading Album of the Week: Laminate Pet Animal → Bandcamp Album of the Day Oct 28, 2011
